HI, I love signal rgb but from a security and end user stand point, why is networking required if you want basic functionality?, i see in task manager that it constantly uses more cpu than fancontrol and is the most resource hungry app when idle, which is amazing since i just want it to set an rgb setting and stay quiet and not constantly monitor anything.
I feel there should be a setting or lite release for simple setups without constantly reaching out to remote ips / dns and using up resources
Can you share more about your setup and devices? Network activity is usually low aside from browsing or downloading effects. Devices like Govee or WLED can also explain it. How much traffic are you seeing from SRGB? For system resources, SRGB uses real-time rendering, so heavier effects like game integrations naturally use more than something simple like Single Color. That’s also why it can use more resources than FanControl or similar apps. Hope this helps!
I disable lighting on my MSI motherboard and set a static always on light on my Asus keyboard, I don’t use anything else. I was hoping for some simple setups like this, network access wouldn’t even be needed.
Some network activity will still happen to do things like download effects, serve ads in the free version, etc. Overall it should be minimal. Having the Shop tab is more or less like having a browser tab open, so network activity is required in that sense. Hope that helps!
Understandable, I’d happily fork out for a lifetime stripped down, non networked version of the app, if you ever choose to go that way. I could be wrong but i think the majory of users just want some simple control to get rid of vendor bloated software and have everything in one place. Unfortunately openrgb doesn’t support my motherboard
