Today I received an update notification, but the application cannot install it. It asks me to restart in administrator mode, then it restarts after I allow it to run as admin, but it doesn’t install the update. It says it needs to install or update a driver in the background and it gets stuck in this loop. I’ve already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, but the error persists.
I’m also having the same problem as you. The new update is unstable and broke the app.
Edit: After restarting the computer, it launched the app, gave the update notification again, but this time, it updated normally. Go figure.
We pushed a critical security update which has caused driver installation issues for some users. In the meantime here are two community-reported workarounds:
Fix 1: Delete VortxEngine and WhirlwindFX folders from C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\ then reinstall from signalrgb.com. Keeps your login and profiles.
Fix 2: Go to %appdata%/local/WhirlwindFX/SignalRGB/service, delete SignalRGBService.exe then run the installer.
I’ve deleted everything and reinstalled the app twice and still get the same result.
Try the latest beta branch: https://beta.signalrgb.com/Install_SignalRgb.exe
Still have the same issue
Here, since the day I opened this thread, it resolved itself. On Windows 11 Pro25H2, I just turned the computer off and on again, and when it restarted, it redid everything, but when it went to install the update, everything went well, and now it’s working normally.
Have you tried updating Windows and your C++ redistributable?
I really liked signal rgb. I even bought it, and now it doesn’t work. So i am sorry, but you just lost a customer. I don’t recommend this software. Thats all for me ![]()
Apologies if you’re having issues! This update had a lot of changes that rely on other Windows services to be updated and running. If any of those have an issue, SignalRGB can experience a problem.
Most folks have found success by ensuring their Windows and other drivers are updated, and doing a full reinstall. Send a ticket in if you can’t get it working, we’re here to help and committed to fixed issues!
I have tried all of these steps and now get the diagnostic code SERVICE_VERSION_MISMATCH. restarting and running as an administrator or reinstalling have yielded the same result.
Same exact problem. Went through the same steps as described by op.
- Admin mode
- Power cycle
- Full reinstall
Problem persists.
I am having the same problem, I can’t even access the app. It stays in this loop and doesn’t finish the installation…
I am having the same problem. I have restarted the computer and ran as administrator. I have to use Task Manager to even close the screen.
I recommend trying the latest .70 build found on the website. It should fix many install issues, and if not, full power cycle and try the install again. You should also get more insight with the error messages, but if you can’t resolve the issue please send a bug report in via email ([email protected]).
