Quick summary: SignalRGB is stopping my PC from fully shutting down.
Long summary: I have been using SignalRGB for a couple of years with no issue. However, two days ago I was able to get an Asus Tuf 5080 OC card for my system to replace the 3080 TI I had been running. Ever since then, I found that my computer wouldn’t fully shut down/reboot. When I say this, I mean Windows appears to shut down, but my lights and fans never turn off. Monitors register no signal and go to sleep as expected, but the PC never turns off. So I have to hold the power button to turn it off. This also means I can’t restart my PC as it never gets to the point where the machine tries to start back up.
At first, I thought this was maybe a side effect of the new card with drivers and/or BIOS, but even after updates, that never resolved. So I started turning off apps that automatically run at start up one by one. Once I stopped SignalRGB from starting up, my issue vanished. I turned everything else back on, still no issue. I turned SignalRGB back on, issue returned.
At that point, I did a full uninstall of SignalRGB, and the system was fine again. Lastly, I did a fresh install of SignalRGB with updates, and the issue returned.
I am speculating there is some issue between SignalRGB and the 5080, as this didn’t start until I put the 5080 card in, but I can’t say with 100% certainty. Has anyone else seen this issue? Is there something I can do to provide logs that might help troubleshoot this? Any help is greatly appreciated!
