I’ve been using SignalRGB for a few years now and never had a problem until now.
Suddenly, every time I reboot or turn on the computer SignalRGB pops up requesting an Installation, I click install, it does and keeps working normally. But I don’t want to keep clicking install (without any option to cancel or closing the program as it just reopens immediately.
How can I solve this?
Do you have any antivirus software? On app start, it checks to make sure there’s a kernel driver and background service installed and in place. If one’s missing, outdated, etc, then you get the installation message.
AV software can quarantine or delete those drivers. Try uninstalling or adding exceptions for SRGB into the antivirus settings. Hopefully that does the trick!
I don’t use any Antivirus other than Windows’s built in one.
Windows Defender can cause this too. Check Windows Security → Virus & Threat Protection → Protection History for any flagged SignalRGB items and restore them if found. Then add exclusions for C:\Program Files\WhirlwindFX\SignalRGB and C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\WhirlwindFX under Manage Settings → Exclusions.
Afterwards, do a full power cycle and let us know if that fixes it. Hope that helps!
I did that and now it wont even open, even manually I try to open it and it won’t, the Task Manager only shows SignalRGB.service
Go back to Windows Security → Virus & Threat Protection → Protection History and scroll through carefully. They’re looking for any SignalRGB entry with the action “Quarantined” or “Removed.” If they find any, click “Allow” / “Restore” on each one. Then try launching the app again. If that doesn’t fix it, we might need to do a full clean reinstall and we can help with that in the Discord to get you the files you’d need for that.
