My original Ripjaws M5 RGB kit worked fine in SignalRGB. I RMA’d it and got an identical replacement (same model number), but now the RAM doesn’t appear in My Rig at all. LEDs work on boot with default lighting, so hardware is fine. Tried admin mode, full power cycle, and removing G.Skill software — no change. Suspect the new kit has a different RGB controller revision. Mobo: ASRock B850M Steel Legend. RAM: F5-6000J3636F16GX2-RM5RW.
When you did the power cycle, did you also turn off the PSU switch? This guide reviews how to do a full power cycle to ensure the power is fully drained from the system before powering it back on. If that doesn’t do the trick, triple check your BIOS and SMBUS drivers are up to date.
Hi there SignalBadger, I have done multiple full power cycles with the psu switch unplugged. I have the newest bios and my SMBUS drivers are up to date.
Where could you find a firmware update for my ram? The only downloadable ram software on GSkills website is their own ram lighting software which would conflict with SignalRGB.
Thanks for the extra info! Not all RAM has FW to update, Corsair for example does but I don’t think GSkill’s has FW updates digging into it deeper.
This guide has more info on RAM issues, but you’ve tried the basics. I’d report the bug using the bug icon in the app so that the support team can follow up. If the device has different IDs, as you suspected originally, the team should be able to tell w/ the log files.
